Wrecking Ball

Bio

It’s all in the preparation. Like an exquisite dish, heart stopping architecture, or the strategy of a chess match - each action is carefully co-ordinated to reach the end goal. Kaleidophone fall into this category of artistry – after birth in 2008, Kent-based Kaleidophone’s first three months involved no music. No songs were written, no rehearsals had – instead the quartet dove into the building of the band’s creative home, their studio, from the ground up.

Finally, they stepped into the small unit, soundproofing foam lining the walls, a separate control room and the small lights of equipment blinking with electricity and anticipation.

Three years, two singles, and a record deal later, Kaleidophone retreated into hibernation once again – this time with one objective in mind: their album.

‘What’s Your Tonic?’ , is what came out of those many months of radio silence from one of the most exciting new bands in the country. In the fatigued haze of 8 am on New Year’s Day, band and label came together for the first listen of some of the early mixes of the album.

“We knew the band were really onto something – and that we were going to be a part of something very special,” said the band’s manager, “Before mixing, mastering and even before all the tracks were finished, it sounded incredible.”

The record is the fruit of hard labour, an uncompromising work ethic, and experience. Mastered by John Davis (Florence and the Machine, Everything Everything), ‘What’s Your Tonic?’, is a fine album in which every track has its own unique charm and is equally as beautiful as the last.

2011 is the year that everything will change, and Kaleidophone are leading the trend.
